New Year - New You!

New Year - New YOU!

A new year not only brings about a great celebration of life, love, and memories, but it also brings upon us a chance to have a new beginning. Like many other people around the world, you may have set a New Year's resolution for yourself. Maybe you have chosen to eat healthier, to exercise regularly, or to drink more water. Are you thinking about your resolution right now and wondering how long you will actually be able to stick to it this year? Here are a few simple tips to help you stay "on the bandwagon" with your health goals this year...

1. Set a realistic goal for yourself. Don't feel like you have to achieve everything all at once and right away. Take it slow and make healthy changes over time, and you will have a much better chance of making these healthy habits last a life time.

2. Find easy ways to work your new healthy habits into your typical daily routine. Try to keep a full waterbottle on your desk at work so you can grab and sip throughout the day, take the stairs instead of the elevator, do some squats while brushing your teeth, or just simply add some extra fresh veggies to your usual home made recipes for an extra nutrient boost!

3. Avoid products that make claims that sound too good to be true, because, well, they probably are. There are numerous pills, powders, shakes, meal supplements, and restrictive diets being promoted through the media all over our televisions and smartphones. Many of these products are used for weight loss, and although the immediate results may be successful it is unlikely that the weight will stay off long term. There is an easy way to earn and maintain a healthy body, and that is to eat a diet full of a variety of fresh, minimally processed foods, and exercising regularly.

Now that we have rung in the new year, find a way to make 2015 count FOR YOU. Keep reaching for your goals and maintain that motivation, and by the time the next new year celebrations begin, you will finally be able to show off what you earned!

Happy New Year to all of my @eatingwithadietitian followers out there! I wish you a very happy & healthy new year!
